Unloved, unlovely, underestimated and under appreciated, are the ugly ducklings of the fly fishing world. The aesthetic splendor of their salmonid brethren is offset by the general consensus that trout are less intelligent by comparison, and then there is the issue of scale—even a medium sized carp is larger than a career best trout for almost any angler. I remember watching a episode of In-Fishermen and they were fly fishing for carp in Lake Michigan. The water was gin clear and the guide was tying his own leaders. 2-3 feet of 20lb fluorocarbon then 3-4 feet of 12lb fluorocarbon. Is this something you would recommend for lakes?
